08.31.17 | Ministry | Home Groups | by theCross Communications

Over the past few weeks of our "Godconomy" sermon series you have heard Pastor Zach speak about the need for community — that every single one of us is a minister. One of the best ways to live this out is to lead or join a Home Group.

  • "But I don't have time."
  • "I don't like being with people I don't know."
  • "I don't know enough about the Bible."
  • "My house is small...I can't have people over."
  • "I'll lead a group, but I don't want kids at my Home Group."
  • "I'm in a Bible Study already...I'm good."
  • "I already come to church on Sunday. I don't want to join a group."

Have you heard these voices? Have you said some of these things? We all have. But the truth is that God wants us to be in relationship with each other.

What does scripture actually say about this?

1. Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

2. Matthew 18:20

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Jesus

3. Acts 2:42-47

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.  And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.  And all who believed were together and had all things in common.  And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.  And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

So, how do I join a group?

Home Groups have one, simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. That’s why Home Groups exist—to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you!
